The Parksville Downtown Business Association is thrilled to announce the launch of the “Imagine Parksville Downtown” project, a groundbreaking community economic diversification initiative! With generous funding from the Province of British Columbia through the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program, this project is all about engaging our community to shape the future of Parksville’s downtown.

But this project is about so much more than just economic growth—it’s about igniting a renewed sense of ownership and pride within our beloved community. By involving local residents, business owners, and stakeholders, we aim to create a stable and dynamic economic foundation for Parksville’s downtown core.

Tami Frankford, President of Parksville Downtown, said it best –  “Imagine Parksville Downtown is more than just an initiative for our association members—it’s a vision for the entire Parksville community. By diversifying our economic base, we’re not only supporting our downtown businesses but also creating opportunities and fostering a vibrant environment that will benefit every resident and visitor. This project has the potential to shape the future of Parksville in ways that will positively impact us all.”

The journey kicks off on October 8 with Community Engagement Week! During this week, our partner, DAAR Place Consulting, will lead sessions with various community stakeholder groups, including Parksville Downtown members, to gather invaluable insights and identify areas of opportunity for Parksville. Later in the fall, we’ll roll up our sleeves in co-creation sessions, where the community will brainstorm and develop strategic ideas for our economic diversity plan.

We believe that the best way to build a resilient and thriving downtown is to involve the community at every step. This project is a chance for all of us to come together, share our ideas, and create a downtown that reflects the hopes and dreams of everyone in Parksville.

This is more than a project—it’s a movement, an opportunity, and a call to action for everyone who loves Parksville. Get ready to groove at the Hwy 19A Music Festival’s Party on the Plaza, happening in the heart of Parksville Downtown! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 7, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, and join us at Memorial Plaza for a day filled with fantastic live music, great vibes, and family-friendly fun—all for free!

We’re thrilled to bring you an incredible lineup of local talent that will keep you dancing and tapping your feet all afternoon. Kicking off the event is Qualicum’s very own DJ Connor, whose beats are sure to set the perfect tone for the day. Following DJ Connor, prepare to be captivated by the folk/pop sounds of Malikai. At just 15 years old, Malikai is already making waves in the music scene, showcasing a talent well beyond his years.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! We’re honored to have the James Vickers Band close out the show. James Vickers, recently featured on Global TV for his exceptional blues guitar skills, is another young prodigy at just 16.
